Experiences to enjoy at La Filomena
A place to learn about Sibillini traditions and have fun
Getting to know a place intimately means getting to know its most deeply rooted traditions and experiencing them like a native.
La Filomena organizes activities for you to do in the facility, but only by reservation.
As the facility is run entirely by our family, we strive to make the best arrangements so you can have the great time you deserve.
In addition, we recommend a few nature excursions that you might enjoy

Guerriero’s garden
We offer you a unique country adventure in Guerriero's garden: harvesting seasonal vegetables and cooking them in your own home! This is a great blessing that we experience every day - something that may not always be possible for those living in the city
If the weather is good and you want to join Guerriero in the vegetable garden, your vacation at La Filomena will take on a whole new flavor and color. You will be able to harvest vegetables for free and consume them as you wish.
Come and experience a different lifestyle for a day alone or with your family.
The convivial grill
The facility provides barbecues and charcoal for convivial and tasteful evenings to spend with other guests.
At La Filomena there is no shortage of company, especially after a hard day in which you have toddled among the peaks and trails of the Sibillini Mountains.
Conviviality and togetherness are our strength and the strength of mountain hamlets. Here, mutual help and shared fun make every day feel like a celebration.

HIKES IN NATURE
There are many trails of varying difficulty to get to the Sibillini Mountains peaks.
If you are staying at La Filomena, you can reach these destinations quickly by car. However we recommend you stay up-to-date via the CAI and Sibillini Mountains National Park online sites for any unexpected communication.

Take a walk in the country paths
No rural place is complete without a path trodden by local farmers on their way to the fields.
In keeping with our value of sharing, we have created spots where you can stop for a break or meditate along the route that Guerriero trails every day.
If you stay at La Filomena and you don't want to go anywhere else, you can take a short hike and then go straight home to relax.
Gole dell’Infernaccio
Le Gole dell'Infernaccio are natural gorges carved by the Tenna River. They are located between Mount Sibilla and Mount Priora.
The gorges provide natural refreshment thanks to plants that shade the path and to the pisciarelle, trickling waterfalls found at the entrance of the gorges.
From Le Gole dell'Infernaccio begins a route to the Eremo di San Leonardo, a place of worship, and to Capotenna, the source of the Tenna River.
If you want to go on a simple trek, Le Gole dell’Infernaccio is the ideal hike for visiting the more evocative and symbolic places of the Sibillini Mountains.

Walk the Sybil Mountain
If you want to reach the top of the Sibyl Mountain, you need to follow the marked route. It starts from the Sibyl refuge and goes right up to Mount Zampa. To get the Sybil peak from here, the trek will be 12 km with 635 m of elevation gain.
Reaching the top may not be that difficult, but the experience is deeply cathartic - something you must experience at least once in your life.
On the peak of Monte Vettore passing by The Lake of Pilato
Monte Vettore is known for being the highest peak of the Sibillini Mountains chain, in fact the route is neither short nor easy at all.
You can undertake the ascent to the summit from Foce di Montemonaco or Forca di Presta, from where you can also reach The Lake of Pilato. This is the only natural lake in the Marche region, which is home of a protected crustacean: the Marchesoni Chirocephalus.

Canyon: le Lame Rosse
Passing through the small towns of Sarnano and San Ginesio, elected as the “Most Beautiful Villages in Italy,” in the Macerata province, you will arrive at Lake Fiastra. It is an artificial bathing lake where you can cool off before or after a hike to the Lame Rosse.
Lame Rosse is the grand canyon of the Marche region and is formed by layers of red rock shaped like towers that will welcome you at the end of a hour-and-a-half-long hike, which starts right at the lake's dam.
